Music is a powerful medium. It can get you up on your feet. It can make you mellow. It can have you flailing your arms and punching the air. For better or worse, music has the ability to alter our moods. And when an upbeat, uplifting, and fabulously fun tune comes on the radio (or plays on your iPod,) it can completely turn your day around. Glam highlights a few of our favorite fist-pump-inducing, super-happy songs.


Soak Up the Sun, Sheryl Crow
Picture this. You’re in the car. Sunroof is open. Windows are down. The percussion is pumpin’. Crow’s sunshiny song makes even the cloudiest day seem a bit brighter.

Stop, The Spice Girls
Admit it. You love this song. You might hate to admit you love this song, but every time it “accidentally” and randomly appears on your iPod shuffle, you’re doin’ the Spice Girl choreography. (Question is: Are you a Baby or a Posh?)

Crazy in Love, Beyoncé
If you’re a girl … Hell, if you’re a guy, you’ve probably practiced and perfected the Beyoncé booty shake. (“Uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh, oh no no.) Enough said.

Hit Me Baby One More Time, Britney Spears
Britney’s big break-out hit is still a favorite. First and foremost it’s fun and cute and silly and sweet. (And if you have room to do cartwheels, more power to you.) This tune also conjures images of a younger, innocent Britney … and that definitely makes us reflect on happier days.

GLAMOROUS, Fergie
Not only does Ms. Fergie make spelling super fun, she makes it super sexy! Everytime this song comes on you pretend pose for glamour shots. (You know you do it.)

Umbrella, Rihanna
The song that shot Rihanna to instant-superstardom is also the song that shoots us to instant-happiness. Rainy days are depressing no more now that we know how to twirl, swirl, and dip with our umbrella.

Madonna.
Okay so this is a cop out. But you can’t pick one Madonna song as the be-all, end-all mood-booster. There are way too many to choose from: Lucky Star, Like a Virgin, Ray of Light, La Isla Bonita … I could go on and on. Practically all of songs make us want to get up and have a private (or public) dance party. And that is, by far, the ultimate mood-enhancing music …
